Subsequent change of material thickness

What happens if the material thickness is subsequently changed?

Note: Bear in mind that automatic adjustments cannot be undone by pressing Ctrl + Z!

When the material thickness changes, the available tool set also changes in the background. There are different consequences depending on whether you want to reduce or increase the material thickness:

  • The selection of a smaller material thickness is always applied. In the course of this, you can check whether new tools may be available to you for certain elements (for example, for smaller inner radii).

  • Selecting a larger material thickness always leads to the program running a check in the background to determine what consequences would result from restricting the tool set for the elements that have already been placed. Three cases can be distinguished here:

1. Die gewünschte Erhöhung kann ohne weiteres übernommen werden.

In this case, the newly selected material thickness is immediately applied after closing the properties dialog for the base panel via the OK button, without you receiving any information about the check.

2. Die gewünschte Erhöhung kann nach automatischer Anpassung der Werkzeuge, die den platzierten Objekten jeweils zugeordnet sind, übernommen werden.

In this case, a dialog is displayed so that you can select whether the program should automatically make the necessary adjustments or whether you want to cancel the process. If you opt for the automatic adjustment, a corresponding message list will be displayed.

3. Die gewünschte Erhöhung ließe sich erst nach anwenderseitiger Anpassung bestimmter Eigenschaften bestimmter Objekte übernehmen.

In this case, a message is displayed informing the user of the adjustments they need to make. After confirming the message, a message list is displayed, which can be used to make the necessary changes.

Subsequent increase of the material thickness to more than 4 mm

In the case of a subsequent change of the material thickness to more than 4 mm, constraints on the tool set for the elements that have already been placed may take effect. In this case, the following two situations can be distinguished:

1. Automatische Anpassung der Werkzeuge ist möglich:
  • In order to be able to increase the material thickness to the desired level, some objects require the tools assigned to them to be adjusted.

  • In the dialog that opens, choose either OK for automatic adjustment or Cancel.

  • You can scroll through a list of the changes before you make your decision. If you let the automatic adjustment be carried out, the desired material thickness is applied and a message list is displayed so that you can check the changes that were made automatically.

2. Es werden zuvor Eigenschaftsänderungen benötigt:
  • In order to be able to increase the material thickness to the desired level, some objects require certain properties to be adjusted beforehand. These cannot be made automatically.

  • You can scroll up through a list of the required adjustments to find which ones to make.

  • Confirm the message that opens with OK. A message list is displayed so that you can check which changes need to be made manually.

  • In addition, you will be shown which objects require an automatic tool adjustment.

You can use the message list to see the adjustments that have been made automatically or find out which current properties of which objects are technically incompatible with the change in thickness you want to make. This helps you to intervene and take remedial action if necessary.
