Grouping

Create group

Use Select > Group to combine a number of objects into a group. The grouped objects are given a common reference point and can be moved, rotated, etc., as a unit.

Groups can be saved as Macro elements for reuse.

Multiple groups can be combined into one primary group.

Ungrouping

Use Select > Ungroup to undo the grouping. Any contained subgroups will remain.

Use Select > Ungroup all to ungroup all marked groups together with their subgroups.

Group properties

In a group’s properties dialog (double click the group or, in the case of a marked group, select Select > Properties), the following characteristics can be set:

Reference point

You have the option of selecting between
  • five points of the group’s rectangular outline and

  • the origin of one of the group’s objects.

Rotation angle

The group’s angle of rotation around its geometric center, regardless of which reference point was selected for the group.

Editing elements of a group

Editing the properties of a group’s individual elements is done as follows:

  • Select the desired element while holding down the Ctrl key. Then, double-click the element’s properties dialog to open it or:

  • Ungroup the group and edit the desired elements.

Properties shared by all group elements can also be edited in element properties lists (View > Element properties) without having to ungroup the group.
